What To Expect

At First Free Will Baptist Church of Salem we love Jesus and are striving to grow more like Him every day.

Every Sunday we pray together, sing a few hymns and hear a message from God’s Word we can apply to our daily lives.

We dress casually so feel free to come as you are. Our services last about an hour and we promise not to call you out or embarrass you.

We do promise to make you feel welcome and loved. No matter where you are in your faith journey, we are here to come alongside you and care for you every step of the way.

Although we do ask our regular attenders to give to support our mission, we don’t expect guests to give. We just want you to enjoy the service and see if you and your family would like to join our family.

We are family and we’ll do our best to make you feel welcome and at home. We can’t wait to meet you!

Our Community Matters

Grief Ministry

Everyone experiences loss at one time or another. Grief is a part of life. But so often we push through our grief or try to ignore it. We want you to know you don’t have to grieve alone.

Our Pastor is a certified grief counselor and if you are dealing with loss we would love to walk with you and help you process grief with the help of God’s Word and friends who love you.

We hold grief support groups several times throughout the year.  Here you can learn more about grief and the reactions that accompany loss. You will glean useful information and learn valuable strategies to help you on your grief journey. There’s no registration required and the meeting is free and open to the public. Feel free to bring a support person with you if you like.  Call the church at 503-399-9172 to find out when the next group begins.

Clothing Ministry

One of the ways we minister to our community is by offering clothing giveaways several times a year. Everyone is welcome to come and find the clothes that they need for their family. We don’t expect anything in return. We just want you to know that God loves and we love you too.

We also accept donations of used clothing in good condition. If you’d like to make a donation, please call (503) 399-9172 or send us an email to set up an appointment.

To find out when the next Clothing Giveaway will be, send us an email.

Nursing Home Ministry

The Springs of Living Water

Every Friday at 10:00am, we have the opportunity to spiritually bless the residents of the assisted-living, memory care facility – The Springs at Willow Creek. Vern Golden and his team encourage the residents with intriguing Bible stories and jubilant singing.

We see new people nearly every week and would love for you to join us in this ministry.

Missions and Outreach

Discipleship & Prayer

Sunday Evenings: 6:00pm
Each Sunday we meet to study God’s Word which engages our minds and hearts to be more like Christ and share the Good News with others.

Every Other Wednesday: 6:00pm

Do you have a prayer request? You may send your prayer request to pastor@salemfwb.org

Our prayer team prays for the requests we receive during the week.  We take the prayer requests we receive by email and the prayer cards we receive at church and pray over each request. We believe in the power of prayer!

On occasion our prayer team will travel on our bus to various locations throughout Salem and prays specifically for these locations and the needs represented there.

Good News Club

Child Evangelism Fellowship

We’re excited to partner with CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP to offer our after-school Good News Club for kids in grades 1 – 5 every Tuesday from 2:15pm to 4:15pm located at the church.

We’re only 2 1/2 blocks south of Swegle Elementary School on 45th Ave NE in Salem. There’s lots of fun with games, snacks, Bible stories, and more! It’s all free! Come check it out.

Reaching International Students

We have partnered with Willamette University’s American Studies Program to help give Japanese students a taste of American culture and help them improve their English skills.

We call it LET’S SPEAK ENGLISH. Every other Wednesday evening we engage Japanese students with fun and easy ways to improve their conversational English. Join us to help bless these students!

Sunday School

Sunday School classes meet every Sunday morning at 9:45am. We have several classes and one that’s right for you.

During this time we enjoy fellowship with each other, praying for one another and studying the Bible together. Come join us this Sunday to experience a community that will love you and care for you through every season. Everyone is welcome!
